Hey! It’s Tyler. I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for awhile mostly as an alternative to how I feel like we’ve been funneled into fewer and fewer avenues for sharing, promoting, engaging, honestly just how we use the internet in general. At a time when people say technology connects us more than ever it’s funny that everything we try to share must be filtered through awful fucking algorithms we have no control over or say in, so maybe this can circumvent that. This is all very new to me so who knows if this will stick but as I try to recenter myself and my processes, I wanted to see how this feels as a way to add some context and personability to sharing what I have going on.
I’ve stopped using my personal instagram account for the most part, opting to try to use my tattooing account with the goal of growing that to eventually be as secondary and self-sustaining as possible. Ideally just another method for reaching and engaging with people as opposed to the end-all-be-all hub it’s been so far. Finding as many avenues of expression as I physically can has been my focus right now, where what I’m excited about making can be expressed in a wide variety of ways. Solely tattooing was starting to make feel a little boxed in by its limitations of what I’m able to make, so I’ve been excited to find outlets like drawing and painting to break that box open for me. Things to help supplement as well as enrich my overall excitement to just make shit. I’m hoping something like this can be a place for all of that to live. Okay that being said, here’s some actual updates:
DJ Dates
Bossa Nova Civic Club, December 10th 1am - 2:30am, Free (Really excited for this one)
Milagrosa, December 11th All Night, Free
Jupiter Disco, December 14th All Night, Free
Tattooing
I’ll be doing my first guest spot at Dwelling Tattoo in Chicago on December 26th which I am very nervous and excited for. I’ll be posting more info soon but hit me up if you want a slot :)
I’m also starting to make prints! They take awhile so I’m hoping to have a handful up for sale on my website before I leave nyc for the holidays. The stuff I’ve been drawing and have been interested in tattooing is very similar to this print here: flowy, abstract, mixing my love for solid black and light stippling
That’s pretty much it for now; I just wanted to say what’s up :)
Oh also this is my favorite song right now and you should read Winter Solstice by Nina MacLaughlin to help aid you in seeing the beauty in the upcoming winter you’re most likely dreading.
Cheers
Tyler
